Bid leveling sheet
Bids rarely line up: one sub excludes cleanup, another carries a different allowance, and the low number is not really low. Paste the line items and see the gaps and outliers before you pick.
Free. No account. Nothing you paste leaves your browser, and no AI runs on our side. We count tool clicks anonymously, never what you paste.
Either long format with columns Bidder, Item, Amount (and optional Notes), one row per line item, or wide format: Item, Bidder A, Bidder B... Write Excl, NIC or By others for exclusions. Item names are matched ignoring case and punctuation.
How to use it
- Type or paste each bidder's lines with the same item names (your scope sheet or cost codes).
- Mark exclusions as Excl, NIC or By others, and leave a cell blank when a line was not mentioned.
- Press Level bids.
- Clarify every red cell with the bidder before comparing totals.
- Export the sheet as CSV for your recommendation memo.
Go further with AI
Copy a prompt into ChatGPT, Gemini or Microsoft Copilot along with your exported results. Check your company’s AI policy first, and have a person review the output.
Prompt 1
Here is my bid leveling export: [paste CSV]. Write scope clarification questions for each bidder about their missing or excluded items and any line more than 25% from the median. One numbered list per bidder, plain language, no assumptions about price.
Prompt 2
Read this bid proposal: [paste proposal text]. Pull out every line item with its amount, plus all exclusions, qualifications and alternates, as a CSV with columns Bidder, Item, Amount, Notes using these item names where they match: [paste your scope list].
Prompt 3
Using this leveled bid table [paste CSV], draft a one-page award recommendation: low adjusted bidder, scope gaps that still need closing, risks, and what must be confirmed before award. Mark anything you inferred rather than read from the export.
FAQ
What is the adjusted total?
Each bidder's total with missing or excluded lines filled in at the median of the other bids for that line. It is a rough like-for-like comparison, not a price. Confirm gaps with the bidder.
Are my bid numbers uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you paste leaves it, which matters because bid numbers are confidential. We only count tool clicks anonymously.
Why are some cells yellow?
That bid is more than the outlier threshold (25% by default) away from the median for that line. That often means a scope difference rather than a pricing difference.
Can I paste a spreadsheet with bidders across the top?
Yes. If there is no Bidder column, the first column is read as the item and each other column as a bidder.
Does it cost anything?
No. It is free with no account and no per-use cost.
